Control Orienteering Analysis 4.0

Control is an application designed for orienteers, offering a comprehensive solution for managing and analyzing orienteering courses. Its functionality includes the ability to record tracks within the app or import existing tracks from GPX/FIT files. Moreover, subscribers to Total Control can directly import tracks from Garmin Connect, Suunto, or Polar.

Users have the flexibility to view their tracks overlaid on any map image imported into the app. This can be done by importing an image file or capturing an image directly within the app, followed by calibration and adjustment of the track. The app allows for detailed perusal of the course, showing metrics such as pace, heart rate, and altitude at each point. Users can also add notes for future reference and assess pace zone statistics across different sections of the track. Additionally, Control enables track replay at a user-defined speed.

Export features allow users to export their route in GPX format and produce a customizable image of the orienteering map along with their route. Tracks can be exported to Livelox or the Digital Orienteering Map Archive. Further, users can create videos from specific timeframes with adjustable lengths and GPS tail lengths.

The app's 'Compare Routes' feature permits users to overlay different routes on the same map for comparative analysis of route choices. The 'What If' functionality enables users to draw alternative routes and speculate on possible time improvements without certain errors.

Control Club offers the ability to follow preferred runners, engage with posts, provide feedback on performances, and compare tracks. Users can avail themselves of iCloud syncing to access their courses across all devices.

While the basic app is free of charge, access to advanced features requires a Total Control subscription. A complimentary two-week trial period is available for users to explore all features with an option to cancel anytime.

The Control Apple Watch app offers convenient route tracking directly from the user's watch offline. Users can mark control points as they pass them using the Digital Crown feature. Upon returning to their iPhone, the track automatically syncs with the app and all devices linked through iCloud.
